Calgary · whole-home duct cleaning
Clean ducts.
Breathe easy.
Your furnace moves air through the same duct runs all winter. See what a thorough cleaning should cover, then tell the HAUSE desk what you need. We can help you seek a quote from a local provider.

Try it · drag to clean
Go on. Clean this duct.
This is what a typical return run looks like after a few Calgary winters. Drag across it, the way a rotary brush works down a run, and watch what's underneath come back.
Run 1 cleaned
That's one run. A house has dozens.
Use this illustration to ask a provider which supply, return and trunk lines are included, whether the blower is covered, and what photos you will receive.
Book the whole house
Why here, why now
Calgary homes work their ducts hard.
- A long heating season. Forced-air furnaces run for much of the year here, recirculating the same air through the same runs.
- New-build and reno dust. Drywall and sawdust settle in the ducts of new communities and freshly finished basements long before anyone moves in.
- Dry air, pets and spring fluff. Chinook-dry winters, shedding pets and poplar fluff all end up at the same place: your return air.
- Smoke-season filters. A clean system and a fresh, properly sized filter give you a better starting point when wildfire smoke rolls in.
Straight talk: duct cleaning can remove debris from a system. It isn't a medical treatment, and the U.S. EPA's homeowner guide says to clean when there's a reason, not on a calendar. Ask a provider to explain the evidence before you book. Read the EPA guide
What to ask for
Six steps to discuss in a quote.
A thorough scope should explain how debris is loosened and collected, how the home is protected, and what evidence you receive afterward. Confirm each step with the provider.
- 01
Walk-through & look inside
Count the supplies and returns, identify the trunks and furnace, and ask what inspection is included before cleaning begins.
- 02
Protect & seal
Floors at the work area are covered. Registers are sealed off so the system can hold negative pressure.
- 03
Negative air on
A HEPA-filtered collector is connected at the main trunk through a sealed access port, pulling air, and everything loosened, toward it.
- 04
Agitate every run
Rotary brushes and air whips work down each supply and return line, one at a time, knocking debris loose into the airstream.
- 05
Registers, returns & blower
Grilles are washed, return drops cleared and the furnace blower compartment and fan cleaned, so it can't blow dust back in.
- 06
Filter & photo report
Confirm whether a new filter, sealed access ports and before-and-after photos are included in the written scope.

How often should ducts be cleaned?
There is no single correct interval. Visible debris, renovation dust or suspected pests are reasons to ask a qualified provider to inspect the system.
How long does a whole-home duct cleaning take?
It depends on the number of supply and return runs, furnaces, access points and the agreed scope. Ask the provider for a time window in writing.
Will it make a mess in my house?
Ask how the provider will protect floors, seal registers and collect loosened debris under negative pressure before work begins.
Is the furnace included?
Blower-compartment cleaning is a separate scope item to confirm in the quote. Gas and burner service requires the appropriate qualified tradesperson.
What does it cost?
Price depends on the number of runs, furnaces, access and add-ons such as the dryer vent or HRV. Request an itemized quote before work starts.
Do I need to be home?
Ask the provider about access requirements and whether someone must remain at the property during the work.
Can condos and townhouses be cleaned?
Many have fan coils or shared systems that need a different scope. Tell us the building type so a suitable provider can assess the request.
